PATIENTS' RIGHTS AND RESPONSABILITIES
PATIENT’S RIGHTS
All Rwandans, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, cultural belief, or disability are equally entitled to receive healthservices to promote and maintain good health.
- Right to Care;
- Right to privacy and confidentiality;
- Right to information;
- Right to choice;
- Right to dignity and respect;
- Right to complaints;
- Right to refuse treatment;
- Right to pain management;
- Right to security and safety;
- Right to advocacy
RESPONSABILITIES OF THE PATIENT
Patients who chose a hospital over another shall be respectful mutually and respect
hospital’s rules and regulations for ensuring their own safety and wellbeing.
In specific, they should:
- Take care of your own life
- Access and the use of the health system properly and not abuse it
- Respect the rights of health providers and other patients
- Provide to health providers relevant and accurate information about your health condition
- Follow all instructions and adhere to treatment prescribed
- Ensure that the means to pay for all services delivered
